BJP on Thursday, taking a jibe at the Congress President Sonia Gandhi, said that instead of writing to the prime minister Narendra Modi, she should have written to her allies, RJD and Samajwadi Party.

These comments of the ruling party come, on a letter written by Sonia Gandhi to Narendra Modi urging him to get the reservation of the women bill passed in the Lok Sabha as he enjoys the majority in the house.

BJP spokesperson G V L Narasimha Rao said that Sonia should have written to her alliance partners like Lalu Prasad Yadav and Mulayam Singh Yadav, who were the main obstruction for getting the bill passed. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad and the then Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav had strongly opposed the bill during the UPA rule when the bill was introduced in the parliament in 2010.

Even then both RJD and SP were supporting the Congress, yet they opposed the bill. The bill has already been passed in the Rajya Sabha on 9 March 2010. Since the BJP enjoys the majority of seats in the Lok Sabha, the Congress President had requested Narendra Modi of using his majority power and get the bill passed.
