The BSP UP ally, Samajwadi Party on Monday announced its support to 5 Candidates to BSP and 2 Candidates of AAP in the national capital. The Lucknow Headquartered Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has fielded candidates from all seven Lok Sabha seats in the national capital for Lok Sabha Polls 2019. However, the nominations of two of its candidates got rejected.

Akhilesh Yadav-led party is not contesting the national polls in Delhi. Speaking to media, Samajwadi Party Spokesperson RS Yadav said that the party will support AAP in two seats while BSP in rest. He added, “Following the directions of our Leadership, SP Workers in the national capital will work to ensure the victory of BSP in the national capital”.

Yadav further said, “We will also support AAP in New Delhi and North West Delhi (reserved) Lok Sabha Seat as the BSP has not fielded its candidates there.”

Akhilesh Yadav-led party is contesting the national elections in an alliance with BSP in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Maharashtra.

The Bahujan Samaj Party has been contesting assembly elections in Delhi since 1993 but it was only in 2003 that the party had fielded candidates from all 70 assembly seats.

After 2003, the party has named its candidates on all 70 seats. The party had in 2008 won two assembly seats in the national capital. The party since 2004 has been contesting Parliamentary Elections. However, the party has never won a seat in Delhi.

BSP has named Rajvir Singh from Delhi North East, Sanjay Gehlot from East Delhi Seat, Sita Sharan from Delhi West. While the party named Siddhant Gautam from South Delhi and Shahid Ali from Chandni Chowk parliamentary seat.

While Samajwadi Party will extend support to AAP’s Brijesh Goyal who is pitched against Ajay Maken of Congress and BJP Sitting MP Meenakshi Lekhi. The party will also support AAP’s Gugan Singh Ranga for North West Delhi. Ranga is taking on BJP’s Hansraj Hans and Rajesh Lilothia of Indian National Congress.

Lok Sabha Polls 2019 has already begun and is being held across Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19. Counting of Votes and Results for the mega Battle of ballots will be announced on May 23 four days after the 7th phase of voting.

All 7 Lok Sabha seats of the national capital will poll on May 12.
