Samajwadi Party on Monday replaced Shalini Yadav with Tej Bahadur Yadav for the Lok Sabha Seat of Varanasi to take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Tej Bahadur Yadav, a former Soldier from Border Security Force (BSF) was sacked after his video criticizing food for the forces went viral.

Tej Bahadur Yadav had earlier announced to contest against Bharatiya Janata Party Candidate and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as an independent. Today, April 29 was the last day to file nomination for Varanasi Lok Sabha Seat where the polling is due for May 19.

He had even filed his nomination as an Independent Candidate, however, at very last moment the Samajwadi Party made a crucial change.

Reportedly, Shalini Yadav has filed her nomination as a supplementary candidate.

Earlier the party had on April 22 named Shalini Yadav as its candidate for the Lok Sabha Seat of Varanasi. Shalini Yadav is the daughter-in-law of Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Shyam Lal Yadav. She had recently shifted his loyalties from Congress to Samajwadi Party.

Samajwadi Party in a run-up to the national elections has forged an alliance with BSP-RLD  Under the poll pact, BSP has kept a lion share of 38 seats while three seats been offered to Ajit Singh’s RLD. Samajwadi Party is contesting on 37 Seats of the state.

While the development, Narendra Modi in a run-up to the national elections 2019 will take on SP’s Tej Bahadur Yadav, a joint candidate of Mahagathbandhan. While Congress has named Ajay Rai from the Lok Sabha Seat.

General Elections have already started and would spread across all seven phases from April 11 to May 19. Modi had on April 26 filed his nominations accompanied with galaxies of leaders from its allies parties.

Modi had in 2014 General elections defeated AAP’Arvind Kejriwal with over 3.80 Lakh votes. Prior to Narendra Modi, BJP Senior Leader Murli Manohar Joshi represented the Varanasi Seat since 2009-2014. However, he has was shifted to Kanpur in 2014 after Narendra Modi decided to contest from Varanasi.

Varanasi Lok Sabha Seat will go to polls on May 19, four days before counting.
