Disruptions halt Lok Sabha transactions again, Speaker suspends 21 more MPs of AIADMK, TDP

The Chaos and Rukus in the Lok Sabha on Thursday continued as the members of AIADMK and TDP disrupt transaction. Amid heavy disruptions, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan cracking the whip suspended 21 more MPs for unruly Behavior. Among 21 suspended MPs, 13 belongs to TDP and seven are from AIADMK.

The development came a day after 26 AIADMK and TDP members were suspended on Wednesday.

As the House begins its proceedings for the day, MPs from AIADMK and TDP jumped in the well and started shouting slogans against the government. The AIADMK members were protesting against the proposal for a dam across Cauvery river in Karnataka while the TDP members were demanding special status to Andhra Pradesh.

The AIADMK members flung papers towards the chair several times on Thursday. At this, the Speaker initially warned that she would be forced to name the unruly members and take action against them.

“I warn you, I will take your names. You have come to the Well and are persistently creating trouble,” she said.

As the members refused to hear the Speaker’s continuous request, the Speaker suspended 12 TDP MPs and seven AIADMK members under Rule 374(A) of Lok Sabha proceedings for the next four sitting of the House.

Among the suspended MPs were former civil aviation minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju (TDP), Thota Narasimham (TDP) and Renuka Butta who had won on a YSR Congress ticket.

When the House again met at 2 pm, suspended members of AIADMK and TDP trooped into the Well of the House continuing their protest and shouting slogans.

Two more TDP members- P Ravindra Babu and Kesineni Srinivas- were also suspended from the Lok Sabha for unruly behaviour.

With this, a total of 45 Members have been Suspended by the Lok Sabha Speaker for creating and continuous disruptions in the house in 2 days.

Both TDP and AIADMK Members have been constantly pressing for their demands since the very first day of the winter session of Parliament. The AIADMK parliamentarians were shouting slogans against the construction of dams across Cauvery region while the TDP members seeking special category status for Andhra Pradesh.

Though the Centre earlier has ruled out the chances of granting special to Andhra Pradesh. On December 19, The central government while replying to a question by Telugu Desam Party (TDP) member Kanakamedala Ravindrakumar in the Rajya Sabha reasserted that it had already allotted special package to the state.

While on Wednesday, Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday ordered members of AIADMK and DMK to leave the House for the day after they continued to protest in the Well over the Cauvery issue.
