On Friday, Congress slammed Bharatiya Janta Party for accusing the national opposition party of trying to cause a “partition-like situation” in the country.
Union Defence Minister and senior leader of BJP, Nirmala Sitharaman in her press conference attacked Rahul Gandhi, president of Congress demanding his justification on remarks reported in an Urdu daily. The report in the Urdu daily mentioned that Gandhi called his party a Muslim party and that “he was on a course correction path.”
Sitharaman accused Gandhi and Shashi Tharoor of creating polarisation in the country. Tharoor had earlier made a statement against BJP saying that if the party comes to power again in 2019, India will become “Hindu Pakistan”.
Congress defended its President, calling the remarks in the Urdu daily as “rumors”. The party said it was BJP’s way of diverting attention from the ” real issues” faced by the country.
Sushmita Dev of Congress party commented, “I request Nirmala Sitharamanji that you have not bothered to answer the nation about the Rs 58,000 crore Rafale deal which is the biggest scam. If you have the courage in this monsoon session please make a suo moto statement and reply to the nation about how the defense ministry has conducted the biggest scam under your nose.”
She also brought forward Gujarat riots which took place when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of the state. She attacked him for not taking any moral responsibility for the riots. She also accused the PM of polarising people before the elections.
Randeep Surjewala, Congress spokesperson dismissed the report of Urdu daily saying that “the Congress is a party of 132 crore Indians, and will remain so forever.”
Sujrewala stated criticising BJP, “When the government is on the path of lying, then rumours become the main policy of the government.”
The Lok Sabha elections will take place next year.
