In a fresh crisis for Congress in Karnataka amid the ongoing tussle, its another MLA Roshan Baig on Tuesday tendered his resignation from Karnataka Assembly. In his letter to Assembly Speaker Ramesh Kumar, Lawmaker Roshan Baig stated that he is resigning by his own from MLA post.

Roshan Baig, earlier on Monday, had announced that he will resign from MLA post. Talking to media, Baig had said, ‘I am hurt by the way Congress party treated me, I’ll resign from my MLA post and join BJP‘.

Disgruntled Congress Lawmaker Roshan Baig was suspended by the Congress on June 19 from the primary membership for indulging in ‘anti-party’ activities.

The development comes days after the founder of IMA Jewels Mohammed Mansoor Khan accused Roshan Baig of taking ₹400 crores from him and not returning it.

Roshan Baig is eight-time Lawmaker who has served as Home Minister and Cabinet Minister holding different portfolios in the past.

However, Roshan Baig had earlier dismissed the allegations calling it a conspiracy to tarnish him. He also requested Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy to order an investigation in the whole issue.

He said that CM should refer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a quick probe.

The recent development comes amidst the ongoing crisis in the state after 11 Lawmakers from Congress and JD-S submitted their resignation on Saturday giving a big blow to the coalition government.

With the resignation of 11 MLAs of Congress-JDS and 2 Independent MLAs, the coalition government reduced to a minority with 104 MLAs which is 9 less than the required figures.

While Congress has decided to approach the Assembly Speaker seeking disqualification of all the rebels and would request him not to accept their resignation.

Speaking to media earlier in the day, SG Siddaramaiah said that they have decided to file a petition before Assembly Speaker to disqualify all the rebels and request him to not accept the resignation. He further said that they will request the assembly speaker to take action against all the under the anti-defection law.
