Nitish Kumar

Opposition parties are once again trying to form a unity and decide for a consensus candidate for the upcoming Vice-Presidential Polls due on Aug 5. Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi has once again organised a meeting on Tuesday, inviting almost all the opposition parties to stand together as one.

However, Nitish Kumar will not be attending the meeting giving the reason that he has still not recovered from viral. Denial of Bihar CM from attending the meet and his silence over the recent CBI raids at his ally, RJD Chief, Lalu Yadav’s residence is raising many eyebrows. He had even skipped the opposition party meeting over lunch organised at the residence of Sonia Gandhi to decide on the Presidential candidate.

Apparently, a meeting organised by JD(U) which will be attended by state legislators and MPs also happens to be scheduled for Tuesday. Bihar Chief Minister is reported to be unwell and came back to the state capital from Rajgir on Sunday, just ahead of non-NDA Presidential candidate Meira Kumar visiting Patna.

Everyone is keeping a close eye on the actions of Nitish Kumar as his actions are indicating break up in the mahagathbandhan and JD(U) once again forming a coalition with BJP.

There are possibilities that RJD chief’s son and deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav, may be nominated as the opposition’s candidate for the VP polls.
