On July 26 while addressing the Lok Sabha session Foreign Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had given a ray of hope regarding the 39 missing Indians in Iraq.

Shushma had said that she did not have any convincing proof of the deaths of the missing Indians and there are possibilities that they may be alive. She also added that it will be a sin to assume them dead and she will not commit this sin, therefore the government will keep searching for the Indians till she does get substantial proof of their death.

According to the latest updates regarding the Indians is that Syria’s Ambassador spoke to Indian Ambassador Riad Kamel Abbas and said that Syria is eager to return the missing Indians back home safely but they admitted that they do not have any information regarding the 39 missing Indians. Abbas said that both the countries are trying their best to find them. He added that an Indian delegation has made several trips to Syria and Iraq in the past to seek information about them and the chief of the Intelligence Department of Syria has also visited New Delhi in this regard.

Early this month, Iraqi forces freed Mosul from the ISIS, seeing this as a major development a new row of could be seen. However, there was no information of the missing Indian nationals from the liberated city.
