Veteran Tamil actor-turned-politician Rajini Kanth praised BJP for its ‘river-linking’ project mentioned in the manifesto.
Tamil superstar Rajini Kanth (68), on Tuesday praised the Bharatiya Janata Party for its river-linking project. He had earlier said that if river-linking is done then a lot of problems can be solved as farmers’ livelihood can be improved and poverty can be eradicated. Political analysts opine that this is a way by which Rajini Kanth signals to the people which party they should vote for. Earlier Rajini Kanth was also seen supporting the Narendra Modi led government by saying that if a lot of people are trying to bring one leader down then you can recognise the strength of that person. But Rajini Kanth had also denied the his support for any political party when asked about it.
Talking to reporters, he also mentioned how he had put out the same subject with Atal Bihari Vajpayee. “I have been advocating the project of interlinking of rivers since the time AB Vajpayee was the PM, he had accepted my idea. BJP in their 2019 manifesto has promised to undertake the project. People will be happier if this is done.”
This statement came from him when Lok Sabha elections were just nine days ahead in the state of Tamil Nadu.
He said that even though there is unsurety on which party comes to power, he says the inter-linking of rivers is the first thing they should commit to if the NDA is voted to power.
