Addressing a party rally at Narsaraopet in Andhra Pradesh Guntur district, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah on Thursday criticized Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu as the biggest opportunist. Amit Shah claimed that Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief looks for opportunity everywhere and he can join hands with any party if it is in his favor saying that “he changes colors whenever it suits him.”
Amit Shah gave the political instances where Naidu has acted as an absolute opportunist when things turned to be in his favor.
BJP chief said that Naidu betrayed the party when he pulled himself out of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) as he sensed that there was anti-incumbency in the state regarding the BJP. After Naidu left the party he tried to persuade people to become anti-BJP and led them against BJP making a baseless allegation against NDA. BJP President alleged that Telugu Desam Party (TDP) joined hands with the BJP in 2014 as there was Modi wave in the country and he could his boat sinking. Therefore to come into power, he joined hands with BJP.
Shah claimed that Naidu had quit the Congress party in 1983 and joined the TDP founded by his father-in-law N T Rama Rao but later backstabbed him to grab the power.
Shah pointed out that Naidu joined NDA in 1999 when there was Atal Bihari Vajpayee wave, who was the only BJP authority in the Congress-led UPA government, but left the alliance when it lost power in 2004.
Shah also enlisted that TDP chief joined hands with the Congress in Telangana Assembly elections but as the alliance faced a crushing defeat, he dumped the Congress and refused to have an alliance with Congress in Andhra Pradesh.
According to Shah, Chandrababu Naidu would again try to join NDA if NDA comes into power in 2019. But alleging him as a traitor, Amit Shah said that his party doors are closed for Naidu completely and now he won’t be allowed to join NDA ever.
