On Tuesday, the ruling TRS(Telangana Rashtra Samithi) ,along with its ally AIMIM(All India Majlis- e- Ittehadul Muslimeen) claimed al the five MLC seats of Telangana.

However, the opposition parties i.e. the Congress and the TDP(Telugu Desam Party) boycotted the polls held at the State Assembly.

K Chandrasekhar Rao’s TRS and Asad Uddin Owaisi’s AIMIM are in an alliance in the state.

AIMIM candidate Rayazul Hasan along with Mahamood Ali, Sheri Subhash Reddy, Sathyavathi Rathod and Egge Mallesham of TRS won the polls held under the MLAs quota making it an opposition less house.

Gudur Narayan Reddy of Congress boycotted the polls accusing the TRS of poaching its MLA.

The TDP and the BJP also boycotted the MLC polls.

Seven MIM MLAs and Ninety one MLAs of the ruling TRS, including the CM K Chandrasekhar Rao participated in the MLC polls held at the Assembly between 9 am and 4 pm.

Meanwhile, it is also considered that four Congress MLAs, allegedly crossed over to the TRS(Telangana Rashtra Samiti) and abstained from voting even after the Congress had issued a whip.

The Congress, in its possession, has 19 MLAs in the lower house.

Also , there has been speculations that, in the run up for Lok Sabha 2019, the TRS(Telangana Rashtra Samiti)is likely to contest on 16 seats of the total 17 in the state  and leave the seat of Hyderabad for AIMIM’s Asad Uddin Owaisi.
