Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, unlike other opposition leaders, has managed to maintain silence over the recent CBI raids conducted at the premises of former Railway Minister and RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family members. Many opposition leaders have extended their support to Lalu but Nitish did not say anything.

His silence is building up the already prevailing tensions regarding coalition of the mahagahthbandhan. Adding to this Nitish Kumar has also decided to skip the meeting of all opposition parties organised by Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday. Apparently, the Bihar CM said that he would not be attending the opposition party meet due to his ill health, but he himself has scheduled a meeting of all senior leaders and legislators for a meeting in Patna on Tuesday.

All political parties have their eyes on this meeting organised by Nitish as there are possibilities that he might break his silence and talk about the CBI raids on RJD Chief.

CBI registered a FIR against Lalu, his wife Rabri Devi and son Tejashwi Yadav who is deputy CM in the Bihar government. Since the latest raids, BJP has been pressurising Nitish Kumar demanding the resignation of Tejashwi Yadav. On Monday RJD completely ruled out any possibility of Tejashwi resigning, now everyone’s focus is on Nitish as to what decision he will take.

In his statement to Times of India, JD(U) national general secretary Sanjay Jha said that it is totally against the principles of the party to compromise on the image of the party in the public. The CM has always stood for transparency and accountability in governance and his views regarding issues of financial probity are well known to everyone.

Though RJD leaders have whitewashed any differences with Nitish Kumar saying that Lalu Prasad Yadav and Nitish Kumar have spoken to each other and has made clear that there is no case against Tejashwi Yadav, clearing the point that he will not be resigning from the post of Deputy Chief Minister.
