According to the reports, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital on Friday. It is expected that the Telangana CM will discuss the issue of the Kaleshwaram lift project.

K Chandrasekhar Rao is also likely to inform the Prime Minister about the developmental works being carried on in the state. This will be the first meeting of the two leaders after Narendra Modi secured power for the second tenure. The leader may also seek funds for the state’s developmental measures and meet other ministers for the same.

Kaleshwaram Project-

It is a multi-purpose irrigation project on the Godavari River in Kaleshwaram, Telangana. The project is aimed at making Telangana drought-proof by harnessing the waters of the Godavari river. It has been reported that the waters of the Godavari river will be tapped by reverse pumping and storage.

Previously, KCR had not invited Modi to the inauguration of the project and expressed his anger at the Union for not giving a single penny for the prestigious irrigation project. At the event, KCR had said, “Do we have to invite the PM for everything?“.

TIW’s Take-

The meeting can be seen as a pacifying move since KCR had earlier called for only maintaining the just relations with the Prime Minister, that too under the obligation of the constitution. With his plans of Federal Front, KCR has made sure that he will only maintain constitutional relations with Narendra Modi.

Therefore this meeting can initiate a new direction of dialogue between the two leaders.
