As the voting day in the state is inching closer, the election commission intensified the searches in the state. Over ₹ 100 crores seized by the police so far ahead of the assembly polls in the Telangana. Of the seized money, ₹ 75 cr was caught by the police,₹25 crore seized during vehicle check and Rs 9 crore worth liquor.

However, a revenue official involved in the vehicle checks on highways, said, “What we are finding now is peanuts. The money has reached to the grassroots, as every party knew well in advance that the Assembly was going to be dissolved in the first week of September.” Telangana Assembly was prematurely dissolved on September 6 on the recommendation of the state cabinet, almost eight months ahead of its term till May 2019.

An officer said that nearly 10 lakh liters of liquor had been seized across the state. He claims that nearly 6600 unauthorized liquor outlets (called belt shops in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh) were shut down.

Apart from restricting the liquor flow in the state on polling day, the EC deployed 50,000 state policemen, 25,000 central security force and 50,000 from Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh to ensure smooth conduct of polls. The EC has arranged 32,724 polling centers with CCTV footages installed.

Moreover, The Election Commission has received over 5000 complaints of violation of Model Code of Conduct.

The Telangana Assembly Polls are Scheduled for December 7, while the counting will take place on December 11 along with other state assembly elections.

While the Ruling TRS is going all alone in the state, Congress formed a grand alliance ‘Prajautami” (People’s Front) along with TDP, TJS, and CPI. BJP has fielded its candidates on all 119.
