The Telangana Congress on Saturday expelled 24  party candidates for next 6 after they refused to withdraw their nomination against the official candidates or against its allies in upcoming state assembly elections. The order to expel all came into force with immediate effect said the statement issued by the Chairman of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee’s Disciplinary action committee M Kodanda Reddy.

TPCC issued two separate orders, with one has a name of 19 congressmen who are in the electoral race from 18 Assembly Constituency, including 11 Constituencies reserved for SCs and STs. The Second list contains 5 names who are charged with working against the Congress Candidate in Narayanpet Constituency of Mahbubnagar district.

The ‘rebel’ list includes K Shiva Kumar Reddy, contesting from Narayanpet seat and a follower of former Minister DK Aruna, Dr. Ravi Kumar who is in the fray from Thungathury Seat, reportedly a follower of TPCC Chief Uttam Kumar Reddy.

A senior leader from the party who was familiar with the development told media that ‘ The state unit has held a couple of rounds of discussion with the ‘rebels’ and ask them not seek votes, so the winning prospects of  Congress and its alliance partners are not affected. Some of the rebel candidates are contesting of BSPSP ticket and any split in vote bank will benefit the TRS Candidate.

However, Congress has not expelled Malreddy Ranga Reddy who is contesting from Ibrahimpatnam on BSP ticket, the seat was given to TDP in a seat sharing.

Last Week, BJP has expelled many Big faces in Rajasthan when they refused to step down against the official candidate.

Congress in Telangana State Assembly Elections is contesting as part of an alliance with Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) and Communist Party of India(CPI).

The Ruling TRS is contesting all alone Like BJP on all 119 seats of the state.

The State will go for Polls on December 7, while results will be announced on December 11 along with other state assembly elections.
