UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Friday while addressing an election gathering at Medchal on the periphery of Hyderabad attacked the K Chandrashekhar Rao led TRS Government in the state for continuously ignoring Students, Tribals, Minorities, Women, Dalit and accused him of working only for himself and for those who are close to him.

Former Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi was there in the state for the first time after its formation- Telangana was carved out of the Andhra Pradesh State in 2014 during the end of Congress regime – She said ” CM Rao has cared only for himself and his own people leaving the state to suffer. Dalits, Adivasis, minorities, backward classes, women and students were totally neglected. The chief minister should tell us what promises he made to them and he kept,” she said on Friday.

Sonia Gandhi urged to people to see the December 7 day (Polling day in the state) as an opportunity to show their power and elect Congress in the state and be a part of Progress in the state, she said while canvassing for the party candidate from Medchal.

Gandhi who was also accompanied by the current INC President Rahul Congress compared Telangana with a newly born child establishing an emotional chord with the people, she said: “ I am feeling like a mother who met her newly born child after many years”.

She began her speech by reminding the people that Congress had to pay a heavy price for its decision to form the new state. “ Politically, it was the big loss for the party, but we kept the aspirations of the people at pedestal” she added.  “I remember the hurdles we had to go through during the formation of Telangana. Both Telangana and Andhra’s well-being was in our thoughts,” Gandhi said.

Sonia Gandhi while attacking the KCR led TRS Government in the state claimed that the KCR government has ignored farmers in the state by not following the implementation of the Land Acquisition Act. “TRS govt has deliberately ignored farmers by not implementing Land Acquisition Act introduced by UPA government,” former Congress president said.

Meanwhile, Congress President Rahul Gandhi also addressed the public during the rally. He said “only one man ran Telangana for the last five years. He did whatever came to his mind for his family”.

Posing a question on the KCR Government Rahul said“I am asking what did the TRS government do for Dalits, tribals, backward classes…what promises were fulfilled?” he said and predicted that the TRS rule was all set to end.

Congress Chief thanked the UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi for its contributions in the formation of the state. He promised if the Congress comes to power, it will provide jobs to the unemployed youth and to address the problems of farmers.

The Telangana will go for Polling of December 7 while counting of votes will take place on December 11.
