Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar during his party’s “Halla Bol” rally in Aurangabad asked people to vote the BJP out of power both in Maharashtra and in the country during upcoming elections as they had “cheated” the common man.

Pawar attacked Narendra Modi’s government over a range of issues, particularly relating to farmers, triple talaq, minority communities and the union budget delivered by Finance Minister Arun Jailtey this week.

The former Maharashtra chief minister attacked Devendra Fadanvis’ government for not delivering on its promise of loan waivers for farmers last year. He also claimed that the Centre’s promise of paying to farmers 1.5 times minimum support price for their produce was just a sham as the government will deliberately calculate production cost less than what it is in order to avoid paying more.

On the issue of triple talaq, the NCP supremo said provisions for talaq are provided in the Quran and no government has power to interfere with it. He slammed BJP for communalizing peoples’ sentiments, particularly during recent incidents in Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj town.

There were also some disruptions during the rally when some people allegedly raised pro-BJP slogans to disturb the atmosphere. Former deputy chief minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar addressed this problem and warned BJP against disrupting their rallies. He even raised questions on the state police for their high-handedness, asking them to be careful as “this government is not going to be in office for long.”
