TMC, BJP and RJD MPs give Zero Hour Notice in Rajya Sabha over different Issues

Government Calls For Special Session; Congress Calls It 'News Management, Modi Style'

Rajya Sabha Parliamentarians from Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Thursday gave zero hour notices in the Rajya Sabha over different issues.

BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao gave Zero Hour Notice in Rajya Sabha over “establishment of a major port at Ramayapatnam, Andhra Pradesh”. While another MP from the saffron party Harnath Singh Yadav, gave Zero Hour Notice in the Upper House of the Parliament to raise the issue of “alleged disrespect shown to Hindi and other languages in Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) competitive exams”.

While parliamentarian from Mamata Banerjee‘s Trinamool Congress, Sukhendu Sekhar Roy submitted Zero Hour notice in the Upper House on ‘Need to create a conducive atmosphere for entrepreneurs to flourish’.

While MP from Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Manoj Jha has given a Zero Hour Notice in Rajya Sabha over “setting aside the principle of social justice in the ongoing admission process at universities”.

The Zero House of the Rajya Sabha refers to the time immediately following the Question Hour, where Parliamentarians can raise issues of great importance without the mandatory 10 days advance notice.

The Session of the Upper House of the Parliament, Rajya Sabha, started from June 20 and was originally slated to end on July 26. However, the parliament session has been extended by the Union Government till August 7 to give a push to some important legislation.
