West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC Supremo Mamata Banerjee on Friday lead a rally called by her party’s Mahila Wing from Shraddhananda Park to Esplanade area to celebrate the International Womens’ Day.
West Bengal Chief Minister on the occasion took pride on her party for having 35 per cent Women Lawmaker in Lok Sabha. She also lauded her Government for providing reservation of 50 per cent of the seats for women in the state’s local bodies.

She further lauding her government said ‘Our government is committed to the welfare and empowerment of women. Recently we launched the Swasthya Sathi health insurance smart cards. We have decided to issue these cards to a woman member of the family, recognising her as the head of the family’

“While the Women’s Reservation Bill has not yet been passed in #Parliament, I am proud that our party @AITCofficial has 35% women MPs in the 16th Lok Sabha. We have also reserved 50% seats in local bodies for women candidates” She said in another tweet.

Mamata Banerjee who has a strong presence in the Bengal has also started her party’s Lok Sabha Poll Campaign from Today. It is noteworthy that West Bengal Chief Minister had in 2014 General Elections and in 2016 West Bengal State Assembly also kicked off its Poll campaign from this day (March 8).

Trinamool Congress who intends to play an important role in the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls has already formed its 12 Member Committee to look into party affairs and managing the Campaign.
Its Supremo, one of the strong voices, who is playing a crucial role in forging and cementing Pan India Anti-BJP front had on January 19 organised a massive opposition rally that saw participation from almost all Opposition Parties.
