In a major blow to Telangana ruling party, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) backed three Candidates lost elections in MLC polls held for Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Teachers’ constituency and the Karimnagar-Nizamabad-Adilabad Teachers’ and Graduates’ constituencies.

K Chandrashekhar Rao led TRS has a track record of winning all elections since the bifurcation of the state. TRS ever since 2014 has fought and won all elections including Telangana State Polls, Medak Lok Sabha and assembly by-polls, MLC elections, Rajya Sabha elections and recently-held gram panchayat elections.

However, the results of MLC polls that held on March 22 came as a big setback to the pink party. In two of the three seats, the TRS-backed candidates were ended up on the third spot.

However, the MLC Elections were held on non-party basis, all the major parties including TRS, Congress, BJP, left CPM have nominated their supporters as candidates in the elections.

1. Warangal-Nalgonda-Khammam Teachers’ Constituency 

TRS backed the sitting MLC Pula Ravindra who lost to CPM’s Alugubelli Narsi with over 2, 000 votes. Ravinder, a Candidate of Progressive Recognized Teachers’ Union (PRTU) candidate secured 6,218 votes against the Narsi Reddy’s 8,975 votes out of total 18,885 polled votes. Narsi Reddy was CPM backed United Teachers’ Front (UTF)’s candidate.

2. Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar Graduates’ Constituency

In the Constituency, TRS Backed M Chandrashekhar Goud ended on the third spot with Congress candidate and Former Lawmaker T Jeevan Reddy leading by over 20,000 votes.  while BJP backed candidate Sugunakar Rao came second.

The Term of graduates and teachers are slated to end on March 29, 2019.

Election Commission on February 26 issued Notification for Biennial Elections for MLC in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The defeat of TRS backed Candidate in MLC Elections is seen as a big blow for Telangana Rashtra Samithi ahead of the General Elections 2019. However,  Recent Surveys Conducted by Various news Channels predicted TRS sweeping the Lok Sabha Polls winning 16 Lok Sabha Seats while AIMIM winning one seat, the survey predicted.

Telangana has a total of 17 Parliamentary Seats. Voting on all 17 seats of the state will take place in Single round of April 11.
