Amidst the tough fight between the two main big parties, BJP and Congress along with the presence of some regional parties contesting the upcoming assembly elections, here comes two new outfits in the election arena- Jai Adivasi Yuva Sangathan (JAYS), founded by a former AIIMS doctor Hiralal Alawa and Samanya Pichhda Alpsankhayak Kalyan Samaj (SAPAKS), led by former bureaucrats will be contesting the upcoming assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh.

While JAYS represent the people from minority and SC STs, SAPAKS are representing the upper caste.

Founded in 2012, by former AIIMS doctor Hiralal Alawa, JAYS came into recognition when it held country’s first ever Facebook panchayat in 2013. It was held in Alirajpur district followed by a similar event in Barwani in 2014.

Earlier, it had maintained that it will not be contesting election but in the recent revelations it said that it will be fielding 80 candidates from its party. Mr. Hiralal also said that it was open to form an alliance with like- minded parties except for BJP. It had approached Congress but it has not given any response yet. The party claims to have 10 lakh members in Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.

On October 2, the party had organized a Kisan Mahapanchayat at Kukshi in Dhar district where former Congress MP and Bollywood actor Govinda, was expected to participate.

JAYS is likely to announce the first list of its candidate at this panchayat. “We are using the slogan ‘Abki baar, Adivasi Sarkar (This time, it will be a Tribals’ government) and would form the next government by fielding candidates on 80 seats,” said Dr Hiralal Alawa.

Attacking BJP he leveled a series of accusations and said that BJP did not help the Tribal people in any way in the last 15years. He said that the Tribal areas are still facing the problem of malnutrition, unemployment, lack of education etc..

On the other hand, SAPAKS, which is led by mostly retired upper caste government officers, announced their entry into the political arena of the state to fight election from all 230 seats.  They have been protesting against the amendment in SC/ST Atrocities Act, and claim to have six lakh volunteers. According to the party sources, the election office has agreed to issue a temporary election symbol to SAPAKS for the assembly elections.

It held a rally in the state capital on September 30 and also called for a ‘bandh’ on September 6. IT is strongly protesting against the BJP and the Congress for its stance on amendments in SC/ST Atrocities act.  Speaking at a rally held in Ujjain, patron Hiralal Trivedi had said, “Those who do not listen to us will not rule in MP and in Rajasthan. We need equal rights as granted by the Constitution. We are not against SC/ST Atrocities Act, but (we are against) the amendments made to it.”   S

Their focus is on the people who are against the reservation and are deprived of reservation-based benefits. Apart from the upper class, there are 6.6 per cent minority votes and a few per cent of underprivileged, who have been denied their rights.”

The entry of these organizations could jeopardize the vote bank of all political groups in regions like Bundelkhand, Chambal, Vindhya and parts of Malwa, Dhar, Balaghat which are dominated by caste-based politics rather than local issues.

However some political commentators believe that emergence of such parties will not hurt the vote bank of big parties. Such parties have emerged in the past and have made tall claims, but it is not going to have any effect on the election.
