Udit Raj, sitting MP from the North-West Delhi parliamentary asked the BJP to clear the confusion over his candidature for the Lok Sabha polls after it announced its candidates for East Delhi and New Delhi. Udit Raj has been lately apprehensive of the saffron party denying him the ticket for the Lok Sabha elections.

The MP from the North Delhi constituency tried to talk to the senior leaders from the BJP party including Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, the party leaders have told him to wait. He claimed that he had sent multiple texts to the BJP president Amit Shah and tried multiple times to speak with Prime Minister Modi, but he was unable.

In his bytes to the media, BJP leader said that ” I am the best performer of the saffron party among its Delhi MPs and I am the only Dalit leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party who is known across the country. I don’t know why the party is treating me like that.” He said that he is a disciplined member of BJP and he is asking for what is due to him. Raj demanded the ticket from North-West Delhi.

Udit Raj said that he shall wait for the response of the party till an official announcement for the North West Delhi candidate is not made. He said that he merged his Indian Justice Party (IJP) with the BJP and contested 2014 elections from the NW Delhi seat.

Raj has the support of the Dalit community because he has been supporting Dalits rights and take their views on cases like Sabarimala and Bharat Bandh.

BJP released a list of candidates for six parliamentary seats in Delhi on Monday, a day before the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections. BJP fielded cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir from East Delhi and Meenakshi Lekhi from West Delhi.
