17 July 2017, the day marks the beginning of two important events, the Presidential Polls and beginning of the Monsoon Session.

Voting for the elections will be done through the secret ballot system, today in room no 62 of the Parliament and respective state assemblies between 10 am and 5 pm. Elected members of both houses of Parliament and assemblies in states, including the National Capital Region of Delhi and the Union Territory of Puducherry, are eligible to vote.

The day also marks the beginning of the Monsoon session, which is expected to be stormy as the opposition is likely to raise issues like the lynching, terrorist attacks in Amarnath, riots in West Bengal, the impact of GST, the military stand-off with China, farmers suicide and much more.

The day began with Prime Minister addressing the press outside the Parliament saying that he hoped that the Monsoon Session will be filled with new vigor and a spirit to promote the national interest. BJP party President Amit Shah also arrives at 10:00.

The polling starts at 10 with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah casting their vote.

Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned for the day after members paid tribute to former MPs and victims of Amarnath Yatra terror attacks.

Rajya Sabha also adjourned till tomorrow.
