Congress candidate Urmila Matondkar, the actor-turned-politician meets the locals in Dahisar area of Maharashtra while she was campaigning for her party for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

Urmila Matondkar is the Congress candidate for the Mumbai North Lok Sabha constituency. She joined the Congress party last month and claimed that she is in the party for the long term and fight against the politics of hate. Urmila said while joining the party that she comes from the family of ideologies of Nehru and she is deeply inspired by them. She wants to stay in the party.

Previously while campaigning at the Borivali railway station Urmila Matondkar lodged a complaint against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers for clashing purportedly with the Congress campaigners and shouting Modi slogan disrupting her campaign in the area. She also asked the Election Commission of providing her police security until the time of elections as she can see a threat to her life.

Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar in Mumbai North constituency will fight against incumbent MP Goyal Shetty of the BJP.

Lok Sabha elections will be held in Mumbai in the fourth phase of the general elections. The state will go to polls on April 29. The results will be announced on May 23.

Boxer-turned-politician Vijender Singh also joined Congress yesterday and is contesting from South Delhi constituency.

With celebrity making their debut in politics, Sunny Deol also joined BJP yesterday to contest the elections from Gurdaspur in Punjab. Hairstylist, Javed Habeeb also joined BJP.
