Narendra Modi for the first time visited his hometown Vadnagar in Gujarat on Sunday since he assumed office as the Prime Minister of India.

Massive preparations were done ahead of his visit and his entire hometown was whitewashed and cleaned to welcome him. Modi’s visit to Vadnagar was a part of his two-day tour to Gujarat, where he laid the foundations for many projects and also inaugurated quite a few. He also launched the Intensified Mission Indradhanush, an initiative of the Modi government to vaccinate all the children below the age of 2 before Jan 2018, so that no child suffer any disease that can be prevented through vaccination.

During his visit to Vadnagar, Modi inaugurated a newly-built medical college and launched an air-conditioned town hall, a bus terminal, an underground gutter project linked sewerage treatment plant and a hospital. While addressing the gathering Modi was overwhelmed at coming back to his hometown after such a long time and said that “coming back to one’s hometown and receiving a warm welcome is special. I go back with your blessings and assure you that I will work even harder for the nation. Whatever I am today is due to values I have learnt on this soil, among you all in Vadnagar.

He also criticising the previous UPA government said that the opposition government did not take any initiatives to introduce any health policies for the people, while his government was committed to making the health facilities affordable for the poor people.

Addressing the gathering Modi thanked the people for all their blessings and said that passing through the same streets he once again got the opportunity to relive his childhood memories. He said that coming to Vadnagar after so many years, he is feeling refiled with the same enthusiasm and energy that he got 15-16 years back. He also promised that with this new filled energy he will now work even more harder for the country.

He also said that when he was made the Prime Minister of India, he urged the archaeological department to dig and carry out research on the lands of Vadnagar. Many people that time had criticised and said that why is Modi digging up holes, but in so many years and with the continued efforts of the Central and the State archaeological departments, Vadnagar today, has not only become a centre of attracting for the archaeologists of India but also of the entire world.

Proudly speaking about the achievements of the archaeologists about his hometown, Modi said that Vadnagar is the only city in the entire world where the human civilization has flourished for 2500 years. He said that according to the archaeological facts, Humans have always been living in Vadnagar from 2500 years.

Revealing the main reason behind the archaeological survey of Vadnagar, Modi said that a Chinese philosopher after staying in Vadnagar for a long time and researching about the city had concluded that several years back, more than 10,000 Bodh disciples were taught in this city.

The Prime Minister also recited the incident of his visit to China saying that when he visited the country unlike the others, he was hosted and welcomed by the Chinese President in his hometown. He further said that during his stay with the Chinese President, he was showed the notes written by the Chinese Philosopher about Vadnagar. The Chinese President had said that there is a special relationship between India and China. He also was confirmed in China about the fact Vadnagar was originally known as Anandnagar.

Modi also said that after the archaeological revelations about Vadnagar, it is soon going to be tourist place for all and the people of this city will benefit from it and will be proud to be the residents of it. He informed that Vadnagar is one of the places where the remaining of Jainism and Bhudissm is found.

Concluding his speech he said that Modi feels proud to be born in Vadnagar and said that it was a privilege for him to inaugurate and provide the people with better and affordable health facilities and especially the launching of Indradhanush and urged all the people in India to make the initiative of immunisation as one of their own campaigns and contribute to achieving the goal of 100% immunisation.
