Around 500 voters in Tamil Nadu protested against pollution by boycotting their votes today.

Around 500 voters refused to participate in the elections held today in Tamil Nadu to protest against pollution in their vicinity.

“We have asked the company to stop all its operations at its factory… talks are on with he villages to convince them to participate in the electoral process,” Nanadakumar, revenue division officer of Ponneri told IANS.

No vote was cast in the polling booth set up at Nagaraja Kandigai Village. Nagaraja Kandigai village in the Thiruvallur constituency.

The state today votes for 38 parliamentary seats and 18 assembly constituencies . The state which went to polls today include Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu. The constituency of Vellore is the only one excluded from voting.
