DGP Satyanarayana Rao issued a seven-page long notice on Thursday to former DIG Roopa Moudgil, demanding an unconditional apology from her and threatened to file a Rs 50 cr defamation suit against her if she does not take back her allegations in three days of receiving the notice.

Roopa had accused Rao of taking a bribe from AIADMK General Secretary and convict VK Sasikala Natarajan in return of giving her royal treatment in the prison. She had submitted a to the government claiming that illegal supply of drugs was done in the prison and there was special kitchen set up for Sasikala.

Roopa replied to the notice on Thursday saying that she will not apologise and is ready to face the proceedings. She further added that in his notice Rao mentioned about irregularities and she also referred to it in her report but instead of supporting her he asked for an apology. This notice of Rao clearly specifies which side he is on, she said.
