Criticizing the ruling party for failing developments through its schemes, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday announced that he will scrap Niti Aayog if his party comes into power in 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The scheme will be replaced with a “lean” Planning Commission.
“If voted to power, we will scrap the NITI Aayog. We will replace it with a lean Planning Commission whose membership will be renowned economists and experts with less than 100 staff,” Congress President wrote in his tweet.
If voted to power, we will scrap the NITI Aayog. It has served no purpose other than making marketing presentations for the PM & fudging data.
We will replace it with a lean Planning Commission whose members will be renowned economists & experts with less than 100 staff.

On taking a strike against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that after BJP came into power they served no purpose other than making marketing presentations and “fudging data”.
To counter-strike the statement of Rahul Gandhi, a BJP leader, VK Singh accused him of 60 odd years of rule of Gandhi faily and no development since then. He also claimed that rather than talking about breaking down institutions or tearing up ordinances, Congress should think about contributing to the development of the country.
Your party was in power for 60 odd years, and your family’s version of Planning Commission didn’t deliver much. @RahulGandhi rather than talking about breaking down institutions or tearing up ordinances, think about what you can contribute to the country.
Tough ask, eh? https://t.co/zxfZfbsI09

While NITI Aayog Vice Chairman, Rajiv Kumar faces a notice from Election Commission for his illicit remarks claiming that he would disrupt the fiscal balance, and criticizing Congress’s election promise of minimum Income support for the poor, saying that Congress has been sleeping for over 60 years now.
Through the developments, Congress is seeking to revive the Planning Commission that was replaced by Narendra Modi’s Niti Aayog when he came into power.
NITI Aayog is a policy think tank established by the government of India in 2014 with an aim to achieve Sustainable development goals and to enhance co-operative federalism.
The Planning Commission of India was an institution in the Government of India that formulated India’s Five-Year plans among the other functions. The commission was dissolved by BJP in 2014.
