The NDA’s vice presidential candidate Venkaiah Naidu declared that he now belongs to no political party right after he resigned from the BJP. Naidu resigned from the Cabinet. He had held the information and broadcasting and urban development portfolios. Naidu also said he was honored to be nominated for the post of vice president, especially as he’s been in public service for over four decades.
I am clear about the responsibility of the Vice President’s post. I will, of course, endeavour to strengthen the parliamentary democratic system and I will uphold the traditions and standards set by my worthy predecessors and the dignity of the office of Vice President,” said Naidu, after filing his nominations for the vice-president elections.
He said that if elected he would work to strengthen the Parliamentary democratic system and uphold the traditions and dignity of the office.
