According to the official notification released by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, winter Session of Parliament this year will commence from November 18. The session will continue till December 13.

The government has conveyed the information to the secretariats of both houses. In the previous year, the Winter Session started on December 11 and it continued till January 8.

It is expected that a few important bills will be taken up in the upcoming winter session. Two main bills related to Nirmala Sitharaman‘s recent announcements have also been enlisted in the agenda list.

The one ordinance is related to the reduction of the corporate tax rate for new domestic manufacturing companies while the second ordinance calls for banning the sale, manufacture, and storage of e-cigarettes and similar products. The first ordinance was placed in September to support the amendments in the Income Tax Act, 1961 and Finance Act, 2019. The second ordinance was also placed in the month of September.

This will be the first session after the recently held monsoon session which saw the passage of historic legislation- repeal of Article 370 and the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
