yogi adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath paid his first visit to Ayodhya on Wednesday, after taking charge. Adityanath began his visit by offering prayers at the Hanumangarhi Temple in Ayodhya. He than spent around 30 minutes at the makeshift temple in the Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid complex. Later, he offered payers on the banks of the Saryu River. Adityanath was accompanied by Dharam Das, against whom conspiracy charges were framed on Tuesday along with the other BJP leaders.

The visit assumes significance as it comes a day after criminal conspiracy charges were framed against top BJP leaders. A special CBI court in Lucknow had framed charges against BJP veterans L K Advani, M M Joshi, Union Minister Uma Bharti and nine others in the 1992 Babri mosque demolition case, on Tuesday.

The Supreme Court had ordered restoration of the conspiracy charge against them on April 19.

LK Advani, Uma Bharti, Murli Manohar Joshi, Vishnu Hari Dalmiya, Vinay Katiyar, and Sadhvi Rithambara were yesterday granted bail by CBI special judge S K Yadav on a personal bond of Rs 50,000 each. The CBI had opposed their bail plea.

The apex court has restored the charge of criminal conspiracy against BJP leaders and have directed to club the two cases relating to the demolition. The court has set a deadline of two years for the conclusion of the trial.

Advani had met Adityanath at VVIP guest house in Lucknow before going to the court.
