In a move to counter Aaditya Thackeray‘s Jan Ashirwarad Yatra and BJP’s outreach campaign, Indian Youth Congress, the youth wing of the grand old party, on Thursday announced to launch ‘Wake up Maharashtra’ Campaign. The campaign is launched keeping in the mind the assembly polls approaching in the state.

Indian Youth Congress (IYC) on Thursday announced that it will reach to Young voters through the 45-day long campaign in the state. Announcing that the party will release a ‘Youth Manifesto’, IYC set a target of reaching out 4-5 crore Youth of the state ahead of Maharashtra State Polls.

Announcing the 45-day long outreach campaign, State IYC Chief Satyajit Tambe told media that the party with this campaign will reach out Youth voters and will try to engage youths, aged between 18-30, in various programmes.

He added that Senior leaders like P Chidambaram, Shashi Tharoor, among others would be a part of such programmes.

The Campaign named, ‘Wake up Maharashtra: Today for Tomorrow’, has been launched by the Youth wing of the grand old party to involve youth from in various events like Seminar, Discussions, meetings, dialogues and other such events.

The Congress Youth Outreach program will, without a doubt, add to an already charged political atmosphere of the state. All the major political players of the state, Shiv Sena, BJP and NCP, have already started their mass outreach campaigns.

Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray had on July 31 started the second phase of his ‘Jan Aashirwad Yatra’ to seek blessings ahead of the polls. He had on Monday held an interactive session with College students in Solapur and seek their inputs.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis began his ‘Maha Janadesh Yatra’ from August 1, today, to reach out voters from Gurukunj Mozari in Amravati district. Chief Minister’s Yatra will be held in two phases and will spread across 30 out of the 36 districts.

It should be noted that Congress, who stitched an alliance with Sharad Pawar’s NCP in the national polls, faced a crushing defeat. The NCP-Congress alliance could only bag 5 Lok Sabha seats out of the 48 Lok Sabha seat of the state.
