1947 – The Fine Indian Cuisine

What do you do when you see common man struggling for quality food?  What do you do when you see people hunting for vegetarian food?  Either you ignore them or become their partner in the hunt or you take a step further and start up a restaurant to serve the needs of those hunger stroked people looking out for “Ghar Ka Khana”. People give up before conceiving this idea, but Mr. Jia Jain an entrepreneur by birth, took up this challenge and started a cuisine center named 1947-Fine Indian Cuisine which cogitated on providing healthy food to bangaloreans.

It was established in 2003 under the Insignia group which is a pioneer in quality food, beverage and hostel services. It caters to the vegetarian section of the society, adding different variants and flavors to please the taste buds as the options are very limited for vegetarians. The mission of this venture is to set new standards in service, provide consistent quality and generate employment opportunities as they grow. It started with a turnover of 40 lakhs and has stretched to 10 crores relatively.  This is a tremendous growth for any start up which reflects their expertise, market share and of course healthy cuisines.

I remember when I stepped in the restaurant with a bunch of friends on a Saturday afternoon; I was astonished to see the crowd & the waiting list.  It did not make much difference to me as it was a Royalty fee to be paid to experience great Restaurants in Bangalore to satisfy your taste buds.  “Ghas phus” wasthe term associated with the vegetarians and I hated it.  I had very limited options to munch on whereas the others would gobble on till they burped out.  They would hold the leg piece and would longingly eye on it, deriving immense joy by the mere sight of it.  A times I used to feel like a cow tied to a food joint and silently chewing the hay that was thrown to it.  But today was my day – a day to show that we do have delicious food in our menu list.   My friends had to shut when they saw the varieties thrown to the customers in the buffet.  The menu comprised of all the mouth watering cuisines, ranging from Chinese Manchurian to appetizing sizzlers.  The cuisines were free from food colors and preservatives enriched with more natural ingredients.

The unique thing that I observed was the excitement that people were holding to grab the buffet  and the patience to occupy the table irrespective of the time factor.  The crowd consisted majorly of North Indians, Jain community filling the entire floor.  The Pallu on their forehead and completely wrapped up in those heavy saris would describe their women the best.  I could sense their rich tradition. Though the theme they described me was of Post independence, but the ambience resembled more of Rajasthani culture

This is a must visit place for igniting your taste buds. Hope the restaurant continues to serve the people with its tantalizing food & undying services.

Wishing Mr. Jain the very best for future cuisine centers!
