Shanti-sagar

When people hear about the food of South India, the first few things they think of are – Dosas, Idlis, Sambar and Coconut Chutney. They are bound to think like this because this is what they are served mainly in most of the eateries in most of the southern cities .But in Bengaluru, it is completely a different story. Here’s more about the Culinary Integration Of Bengaluru

Shanti-sagar

Shanti Sagar- One of the most common eateries in the city.

With the multiplication of eating establishments over the years, dining out is no more a rare indulgence. From the little ‘Darshinis’ on the street  to food courts in swanky shopping malls, from the middle class ‘Adigas’ and ‘Shanti Sagars’ serving both southern and northern delicacies to the fashionable five star hotels charming the workaholic corporate.

It is very common to find a ‘momo (origin- Tibet)’ stall or a ‘dabeli(origin-Gujarat)’ vendor in some gully. Paani Puri which has come from Bihar has become the King of snacks in our city and even the Hyderabadi Biryani has become a hot favorite. And of course, not to forget the exotic Chinese food for which we crave a lot, Japanese, Thai and Korean, French and Italian, Lebanese and Vietnamese, Mediterranean and Mexican delicacies!

A very common sight indeed !

Bengaluru is and will always be a hub for the culinary delicacies of many parts of this country and the world and will always remain the undisputed ‘Coffee and Dosa’ capital of the world.
