Facebook has recently announced the new Collab app, which was previously released by the social media platform as an experiment. If we go back, Facebook started to test Collab which was an invite-only beta in the month of May this year. TechCrunch first reported about the official launch of Collab.

Its being said that Collab aims to take on the likes of TikTok which is one of the most popular short video apps globally. Just like TikTok, Collab allows users for creating short music videos by combining around three independent videos. The idea of Collab is same like TikTok and there are a few differences. The app will allow users to club three videos together and will also let them post individual videos at the platform. The videos will be visible in a public ‘Collab’ feed where users can see and play along with them.

The Verge says that the Collab app is available for free at the Apple App Store and can be downloaded. It will come up soon on Google Play Store. Along with that, people must understand that the app is not yet available in India and neither on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

After the ban of TikTok in India, many made in India short video platforms were developed. The TikTok app was banned earlier in India this year and it is still not available in India. There were words on the ban of the app in United States in terms of security and privacy issues. Recently, Facebook launched Instagram Reels in India with a few other markets to take on the likes of TikTok. Reels has been able to get huge popularity in India and has also been able to replace TikTok. To remind, Reels is a part of the Instagram app and is not a separate application.
