Social Media giant Facebook is always working to improve its apps. It owns so many social media platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger. Facebook added inbuilt fingerprint lock for WhatsApp, then it started testing to hide likes counts on insta gram to stop “bots like”. And now it is testing a new feature for Facebook that is similar to Instagram. The feature is called “Popular photos”, it is and endless scroll feature that shows photos updates from your friends.

Facebook feeds can be filled with so many links and texts and that sometimes hides photos from friend’s profiles and other Facebook pages. Users have to do the work of digging into the meaning of News Feed each post rather than being instantly entertained. Facebook used to have a dedicated Photos bookmark on the desktop that would let you just browse that content type, but at some point, it disappeared.

Popular Photos work similarly to the Related Videos on Facebook. When you tap on a photo while on news feeds, you will see the photo in the full-screen on a black theater-view background. Now when you will scroll the photo, you will be able to see more photo from the news feeds. The feature will show only photos, which means there will bo no other content in this section.

A Facebook spokesperson confirmed that the company ran a small test of Popular Photos in October. That trial has concluded but the team is now iterating on the product and plans to do updated tests in the future. This feature will a mini Instagram inside Facebook. Facebook already has stories, messaging, profiles section and a dedicated video section that is almost like IGTV. Popular Photos will definitely make Facebook a clone of Instagram.
