The Messenger platform and Direct Message platform of Instagram has been integrated by Facebook. This would allow users to reach each other on either one of the apps for calls and messages.

The integration of Facebook with Instagram is complete. Facebook is merging Messenger with Direct Messages of Instagram. As a result of this, users of Instagram would get to see some new features. The details have been mentioned in a blog post. The new features include disappearing messages, selfie stickers, reactions and chat colours.

Users would be able to see videos on Facebook Watch, IGTV, TV shows and movies with friends and family as a part of video calls. There will be a new ‘Vanish Mode’ by which users can send messages which would disappear when they are seen and the chat is closed.

Users would be able to make a series of boomerang stickers in their selfie and would also be able to use them in conversation. There will be a choice of colour gradients to be chosen and add personalisation to chats. Users would be able to make a shortcut of their own selected emojis to react to messages. Messages could be sent up to five users or groups by using the forwarding feature.

Users would be able to reply to a message on the chat to keep the flow of the conversation like WhatsApp. There would be new animated send effects that can be used in the conversation. Users would also have an option where they will be able to decide on who can or cannot directly message them.
