Instagram, the Facebook-owned photo-sharing app, has decided to disrate sexually and morally vague content, including snippets, memes, and pictures, which are being shared and viewed on the platform by millions of users globally.

“We have begun reducing the spread of posts that are inappropriate but do not go against Instagram’s Community Guidelines, limiting those types of posts from being recommended on our Explore and hashtag pages,” Guy Rosen, Vice President of Integrity and Tessa Lyons, Head of News Feed Integrity, Facebook, wrote in a blog post on Wednesday.

Instagram has always maintained strict policies for nudity on its platform.

According to Instagram, nudity is only allowed on the platform if the photos show a nude sculpture or a painting, post-mastectomy scarring, or a woman breastfeeding, The Next Web (TNW) reported.

As a part of its plan, Instagram announced that any sexually suggestive post shared on the platform will not appear for the wide community, even though it appears on the feed for followers.

Instagram made into news back in 2014 when it banned global artiste Rihanna’s topless photo. At the same time, a #freethenipple online movement took hold of Instagram, but the company declined to change its policies.

Facebook’s post mentioned references to a plethora of “integrity” announcements that the company made at a press event held in its Menlo Park headquarters, with a focus on the safeguarding of its family of apps.

Facebook is currently surrounded by fake news debacle and is now looking forward to alleviating the situation by working with experts to check the spread of fake news on its platform and reduce the reach of groups that are responsible for sharing misinformation.
