Browsing Instagram stories might become a bit easier on our desktops soon because Instagram is testing a new design for Stories on its website which gives the feature a much required facelift. With the new look, Stories appear at a carousel instead of a single tile which takes up the entire page. Navigation remains the same and users can manually click through the Stories or let them play automatically but it is now easy to keep track of where the user is in queue.
Its not clear till now about how many users have got to see the new look or whether the change will be permanent. A spokesperson confirmed the test which started to appear to a “small group” of Instagram users last month but did not comment on when it might be widely available for everyone.
Although the company has slowly improved the functionality of its desktop site, Stories have always been a bit clunky and ill-suited to bigger screens. So this may not be the biggest change but it will be a noticeable improvement for those who spend a lot of time in browsing Instagram outside the app.
