Facebook introduced reaction emojis to its platform, which allows users to add reactions beyond the basic like and dislike buttons. The feature has been quite popular on the platform, given that it provides users with more ways to express their feelings without having to say much. Now, Microsoft-owned LinkedIn, the popular career and business-oriented social media site, has also introduced reactions to its platform, although these are quite different from what we have seen on Facebook.

Earlier, LinkedIn allowed users to leave a like to any post that the user wanted to like, and now, it has added four new additional reactions. LinkedIn will now allow users to react to posts with ‘celebrate’, ‘love’, ‘insightful’, and ‘curious’. The company has introduced these reactions keeping the business-oriented nature of the platform and admittedly the reactions fit better with the platform. Similar to Facebook, a long press or hovering over the icon will allow users to see more reactions which they can use according to their needs.

Linked reactions

Judging by the kind of posts that can be seen on LinkedIn, the reactions seem apt. For instance, users can use the ‘celebrate’ reaction to react to stories about career milestones, such as starting a new job or completing a number of years at a particular job. Similarly, the ‘insightful’ and ‘curious’ reactions can be used on the posts that go in deep about a particular issue.

LinkedIn has started rolling out the feature today, however, it will likely take some time before users all around the globe are allowed to react to posts beyond the ‘like’ feature. The reactions will eventually be made available to the LinkedIn app on both iOS and Android as well as on Web.
