Twitter has recently introduced a new feature called Topics in India in English as well as Hindi which will make it easy for users to find, follow and talk about the interests and things they like. The feature lets people to follow subjects according to their interest an allows them to see more content about these subjects on their timeline.

If a user chooses to follow one Topic, he or she will get to see tweets from a large number of accounts who are experts, fans or just tend to talk about the particular subject on Twitter at their timeline.

Manish Maheshwari, who is the MD of Twitter India said that the inclusion of Hindi topics demonstrates their commitment to diversity of conversations among languages. They are excited to see the vibrant conversations flourishing on Twitter in India.

In the segment of Hindi topic, users would get to see Tweets in Devanagari script and Hindi speech typed in Roman alphabet. Indian users would be able to follow conversations about a certain topic they have been following accounts with just one tap.

Topic suggestions will come up on the timeline and at the search bar based on which one is most relevant. To search the Topics users want to follow, they need to open Twitter on their phone, click at the icon with three horizontal lines at the top left of the app, tap on ‘Topics’ and they would get to see a list of ‘Suggested Topics’. Tap the ‘Follow’ button depending on their interest and tap on ‘More Topics’ at the end of the list for exploring a list of Topics and Sub-Topics to choose from.

Users can also explore the page of Topic Selectors that offers a list of topics to follow. Users can also stop to follow a topic that they don’t wish to see on their timeline anymore.

Along with Hindi, Topics will also be available in English, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic and Korean.

Maheshwari also added that India is one of the most important market for Twitter. They want to strengthen the value of the service for Indian audiences by offering them more control on what they want to see over their timelines.
