According to a report from CNBC, the latest earbuds from Amazon “Echo Buds” may also track your workout and fitness activity. If it is true then Amazon will also enter the fitness tracking category and it will directly compete with Fitbit, Apple Watch and other fitness trackers.
The Echo Buds can be used by installing an app named “Alexa”. This app has all the control over Echo Buds. According to CNBC, there is a whole section named “fitness” in the audio controls of the app. The section included the option to track a workout, a fitness profile that included a space for height, and a Workouts heading. This section was fully functional as it tracked a fitness activity. It was able to track the exact movement of a person.
The app could not monitor the heart rate because Echo buds do not come with a Heart Rate Monitor. According to the report, Amazon has recently added this feature and can add many more features in the Echo Buds. The fitness section was seen on the tablet from Amazon and on iPhone.
Even though the Fitness section is available in the Alexa app, there is no confirmation from Amazon about this new feature. The buds have been advertised as “exercise ready” with IPX4 water and sweat resistance, so there are speculations that Amazon may introduce Echo Buds with a Heart Rate Monitor.
