Google Maps has now updated its ‘Explore tab’ by redesigning it along with a new Offers section to make local discovery easier for Indian users. Google says it has partnered with EazyDiner, a table reservation platform, to display offers from over 4,000 restaurants. Google has further updated the ‘For You tab’ to offer users to follow businesses and get relevant updates. The redesigned Explore and For You tabs as well as the Offers section are now available on the latest Google Maps for Android in the country.

The newly redesigned Explore tab now features seven new shortcuts that are apparently populated based on top queries and the way people interact with Google Maps in India. These seven shortcuts are Restaurants, Petrol Pumps, ATMs, Offers, Shopping, Hotels, and Chemists. Using Machine Learning, Google Maps automatically identifies the top suggestions across all these categories in every city. By tapping on the arrow beside the Explore Nearby option will also enable users to find out popular neighborhood in their cities. The For You section in Google Maps features curated list of places and activities that the user might like. This section will now enable users to follow a business, receive pertinent updates, news on events and stay updated on offers they post to the ‘For You’ tab.

There is another option available to find popular places to hangout in any other Indian city by simply searching their names. Earlier, the Explore tab only used to show users the name of the city based on their location data.

Moreover, Google Maps will now be displaying new Offers section where users will be shown deals that can be claimed at restaurants across 11 Indian cities. The feature is now live in Bengaluru, Pune, Chennai, Kolkata, Goa, Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Chandigarh and Hyderabad. To use this feature, users can simply tap the “Offers” shortcut in the “Explore” tab or filter for restaurants with offers.
