Microsoft today announced the release of Windows 10 May Update 2019 which will be rolling out next week.

This update comes along with a new strategy for Windows Update release schedule and more transparency in this regards. The new update is the next major version of Windows 10, codenamed “19H1/1903,” and it’s a relatively light update in terms of features.

Windows 10 May update 2019 will be coming up with a series of improvements  Start menu, Action Center, Settings app and more. It also introduces a new Windows light theme experience, Windows Sandbox and several other features.

Earlier, Windows 10 users were unable to delay major OS updates which in turn lead to plenty of frustration due to forced restarts and unwanted changes but Microsoft in its “Windows 10 May 2019 update” has announced it is doing an about-face on the way updates which will roll out in future.

After a month of testing with Release Preview Ring Insiders, the fully baked Windows 10 May Update 2019 is expected to begin rolling out for business customers in late May, and Microsoft will use the late May date when it begins rollout as the start of the 18-month support period for Windows 10 1903. Microsoft officials said the May 2019 Update will be available in late May through Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), Windows Update for Business, the Volume Licensing Service Center and for deployment using Systems Center Configuration Manager and/or other systems-management software.

“I’m pleased to announce that the Windows 10 May 2019 Update will start to be available next week in the Release Preview Ring for those in the Windows Insider Program. We will begin broader availability in late May for commercial customers, users who choose the new May 2019 Update for their Windows 10 PC via “check for updates,” and customers whose devices are nearing the end of support on a given release,” Microsoft said in a blog post.
