Dropbox, the cloud storage firm has added a new feature to its services. Recently Dropbox unveiled Dropbox Transfer, a file-sharing service from dropbox. Back in July, dropbox started Beta program for Dropbox Transfer and this week they officially launched the service.

The files can be shared through a transfer page, a desktop icon, and an IOS app. when you share a file using Dropbox transfer, Dropbox will create a link that will help the receiver to download files. The link can be created through dropbox.com/transfer. The one thing that makes this service different from other cloud-based services is that the transfer link will not give the editing access to the receiver. It means if you’ll make any changes in the files after creating the link, the receiver will not get the updated version of the file. This service is really useful when you want to share a file with a large file using email, as you can only send 25mb of data over email.

According to Dropbox, the feature of Dropbox Transfer is the same for every account, the only thing different is the size of the file that can be shared. For Free account, the sharing limit is 100 MB and for premium accounts, the transfer limit is 100 GB. There are some more special features in Dropbox Transfer. The sender can set the expiration limit of the link to over 90 days. Users can set the download alerts, which means they can choose if they want to receive notification for every download. They can even check stats like how many times the link has been click or the file has been downloaded. This service can let you set the password on the files.
