In the Pakistan Tour of Sri Lanka, the first test of the 2-match series was played at Galle from July 16th-20th.

SL won the toss and elected to bat first.

SL First Innings

Oshada Fernando and Dimuth Karunaratne opened the innings for SL as they lost their first wicket soon.

The PAK bowlers were not letting any batsmen of the SL team settle as they were taking frequent wickets.

SL made a total of 222 with Dinesh Chandimal standing there in between as he played an important knock of 76 runs when no one else was able to score runs.

Shaheen Shah Afridi took four major wickets, whereas Hasan Ali and Yasir Shah took two wickets each in limiting the SL batsmen.

PAK’s First Innings

Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq opened the innings for PAK.

SL bowlers made it difficult for them to score as they gave immediate breakthroughs to them.

Babar Azam’s outstanding hundred, however, did not let the SL take a bigger lead as PAK scored a total of 218 runs.

Prabath Jayasuriya took five wickets stopping the PAK batsman and not letting them take a lead.

SL’s Second Innings

Oshada Fernando’s 64 runs gave a good start to the SL side when Kusal Mendis’s 76 took forward the innings.

Dinesh Chandimal played an outstanding knock, standing alone as he was not getting much support from the other side, but his 94 runs made SL achieve a total of 337 runs.

The five wickets hauled by Mohammad Nawaz and three wickets
by Yasir Shah stopped the SL batsman.

PAK’s Second Innings

The great start by Abdullah Shafique gave PAK hope to win the match as he also achieved his half-century.

Babar and Abdullah together contributed 101 runs as Babar made his half-century and Shafique completed his century when Prabath bowled Azam.

Shafique’s mesmerizing knock of 160 runs saved the game for the PAK team as they won the match by four wickets and he was declared the Man of the Match.
