Afghanistan and Bangladesh ODI Series Ends with Afghanistan Winning 2-1.

Afghanistan and Bangladesh competed in a three-match ODI series held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the UAE.

Afghanistan started the series strong, securing a win in the first match against Bangladesh on November 6. Bangladesh quickly responded, winning the second ODI with ease on November 9, bringing the series to an exciting 1-1 tie.

Match Details

The series came down to the third ODI, with the winner of this match taking the series title. Bangladesh’s captain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, won the toss and chose to bat first.

Bangladesh Innings

Tanzid Hasan and Soumya Sarkar opened the innings for Bangladesh with a solid start, building a strong partnership. However, Azmatullah Omarzai managed to break their stand, dismissing Soumya. In the following over, Mohammad Nabi took the wicket of Tanzid, and Zakir was run out soon after.

Despite the setbacks, Mehidy and Mahmudullah held their ground and stabilized the innings. Both players reached their half-centuries and continued to add runs to the total. Thanks to their partnership, Bangladesh managed a score of 244 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Azmatullah Omarzai claimed four wickets, while Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan took one each.

Afghanistan Innings

Rahmatullah Gurbaz and Sediqullah Atal opened the innings for Afghanistan, getting off to a promising start. However, Nahid Rana struck early, taking the wicket of Sediqullah. Soon after, Rahmat Shah and Hashmatullah Shahidi also fell, leaving Afghanistan in a tricky position. At this crucial point, Azmatullah Omarzai joined Gurbaz at the crease.

Rahmatullah Gurbaz reached his half-century, with Omarzai providing support at the other end. Gurbaz went on to score a century before being dismissed by Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Omarzai, having already excelled with the ball, continued his form with the bat, reaching his half-century. He and Mohammad Nabi guided Afghanistan to a five-wicket victory, securing the series 2-1.
