Javelin thrower, Anu Rani of Uttar Pradesh broke her own national record of 60.01 m and threw the spear to a distance of 61.86 m. She won the gold medal for this performance in the last day of 21st Federation Cup National Senior Athletics Championships.

In this process of breaking her own record and setting up the national record in Javelin throw, she also qualified for the World Championships which are to be held in August at London. The distance for qualifying for World Championships is 61.40 m.

Suman Devi, also of Uttar Pradesh won the silver medal with a throw of 55.03 m and K Rashmi of Karnataka won the bronze with 51.12m.

Rio Olympian Nirmala Devi of Haryana also qualified for the World Championships in 400 m race. She completed the race in 51.28 seconds. The qualifying time for World Championship for 400 m race is 52.10 seconds.
