Sri Lanka and Australia faced each other in a two-match test series at the Galle International stadium. SL won the toss and elected to bat first. It was time for their batsman to set up a good total.

Day 1

The first innings started slowly as the Australian bowlers were looking good against the batsman of SL. They gave them their first breakthrough at a low score of 38 runs.

After the first wicket went down, it wasn’t long enough when Mitchell Swepson took the wicket of Kusal Mendis. No batsmen were able to stand for long and convert their winnings into a big score.

The Australian bowlers were completely dominating the game. The only batsman who was able to score fifty against them was Niroshan Dickwella.

Nathan Lyon took a haul of five wickets, whereas Mitchell Swepson took three wickets. Limiting the innings of SL to a score of 212 runs.

It was time for the Australian batsman to chase the runs and take the lead. As the openers came out to bat. The partnership started well until Mendis took the wicket of David Warner.

Despite wickets falling, Usman Khawaja kept going, and the AUS score was 98/3 by the time day one ended.

Day 2

Usman completed his half-century. Usman and Cameron built a short partnership of 57 runs as they put AUS in a strong position. While clearing the ball for the boundary, Usman gave an easy catch to Nissanka.

Cameron Green and Alex Carey started to take the game away from SL as they completed the run chase by building a partnership of 87 and started to take the lead as Cameron completed his half-century.

By the end of the day, AUS created a score of 313/8.

Day 3

AUS made a total of 321 runs and took the lead by 109 runs.
SL’s second innings started as they were already under pressure because AUS had a lead of 109 runs.

The batsman of SL wasn’t able to stand against the bowlers of AUS as they were taking frequent wickets.

The bowlers stopped the SL batsman at just a score of 113 runs as Nathan Lyon and Travis Head took four wickets each, after which AUS now just needed five runs to win the match.

David Warner came out to bat and smashed a four, and then finished the game in style by smashing a six, making AUS win by ten wickets.

As the match ended, Cameron Green was chosen as the Man of the Match.
