India and West Indies played the second ODI on July 24th at Queen’s Park Oval.

After winning the last ODI, India will be looking for another win so that they can win the series as well.

West Indies, after losing the last game, will be looking to level the series with a win and take the game to the decider.

WI won the toss and elected to bat first.

First Innings

Shai Hope and Kyle Mayers opened the innings for the West Indies side.

They both gave a stable and good start to the WI team, and they were trying to settle down and make a partnership.

Deepak Hooda didn’t let the partnership be as he took the wicket of Mayers.

Hope and Sharmarh Brooks took forward the innings as Hope completed his half-century.

Axar Patel took the wicket of Brooks, and in the next over, Yuzvendra Chahal sent Brandon King back to the pavilion.

Shai Hope and Nicholas Pooran got along well together, as Hope also completed his century.

Pooran’s knock of 74 runs added valuable runs to the total of WI as they made a total of 311 runs for the loss of six wickets.

Shardul Thakur played an important role in stopping the WI batsman as he took three wickets.

Second Innings

Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill opened for India.

The openers gave a slow start when Dhawan also departed as he tried to uppercut and gave an easy catch towards the third man.

Gill’s knock of 43 runs didn’t let the Indian team fear much, but he wasn’t able to convert it into a big total.

Kyle Mayers took two frequent wickets in the form of Gill and Surya Kumar Yadav as he pushed back the Indian team.

Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson took forward the innings as they both formed a partnership of 99 runs and also completed their half-centuries.

Neither of them was able to take IND to the victory as they added valuable runs but weren’t able to finish the game.

Axar Patel, a new star for the Indian team, played a magnificent knock of 64 runs as he led his team to victory.

With this victory, India also took the lead by 2-0 in the three-match series.

Axar Patel was elected as the Man of the Match for his knock of 64 runs and 1/40 bowling figures.
